Convert phone numbers to E.164 in bulk
E.164 is the international standard for phone numbers: a plus sign, the country code and the subscriber number, with nothing else. 050 123 4567 dialled in Dubai becomes +971501234567; (415) 555-2671 in the United States becomes +14155552671. SMS gateways, WhatsApp and Twilio APIs, CRMs and sign-in systems want numbers in this form because it is unambiguous from anywhere in the world. This converter turns a messy list into clean E.164, or into the other formats you need, entirely in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste your numbers, one per line, in any style: spaces, dashes, brackets, a leading 0, +, 00 or tel:.
- Choose the country for numbers written without a country code.
- Choose the output format and press Convert. Switching format afterwards updates the output instantly.
- Copy the output column or download a CSV with every format and the reason for any number that failed.
The output keeps one line per input line, and numbers that are not valid leave a blank line. Paste it straight into the column next to your original list and every row still lines up.

The rules of E.164
- It always starts with
+and the country calling code (1 to 3 digits). - The national trunk prefix is dropped. That is the leading 0 in the UAE, the UK, India, Pakistan and many other countries, so
+971 050...is wrong and+971 50...is right. - No spaces, brackets, dashes or dots in the stored form.
- At most 15 digits in total.
- Extensions are not part of E.164. The converter shows you when a number had one, so you can keep it in a separate field.
Why some numbers fail
Each number is checked against Google's libphonenumber data, which knows the valid lengths and ranges for every country. A number fails if it is too short or too long, uses a country code that does not exist, or does not fit any real number range in that country, for example a typo that adds a digit. Check that the default country is right: a UK number pasted without +44 while the country is set to the UAE will not be valid.
