Group Expense Splitter

Free group expense splitter. Add people and expenses, and it works out who owes whom with the fewest payments, plus a WhatsApp-ready summary. The whole tab lives in the link, no app, no account.

People

Add at least two people to start splitting expenses.

Split shared costs without the app or the awkwardness

Trips, group dinners and shared houses always end in the same muddle: who paid for what, and who owes whom now. This free splitter sorts it out in seconds. Add the people, log each expense as it happens, and it works out the simplest way for everyone to settle up, with a summary you can drop straight into the group chat. No app to install, no account to create, and no subscription.

How it works

  • Add the people in your group.
  • Log expenses: who paid, how much, and who shared it (everyone by default, or just some).
  • Settle up: it nets everything off and shows the fewest payments that clear all the debts.
  • Share: copy the WhatsApp-ready summary, or send the page link to keep the running tab in sync.

The whole tab lives in the link

There is no server and no database. Your group, expenses and totals are encoded in the page's own URL, so sharing is as simple as copying the link, and anyone who opens it sees the same tab. Keep adding to it over a whole trip; the settle-up always reflects the latest numbers. If you never share the link, nobody else can ever see it.

Fewest payments, not a tangle of IOUs

A group of five can easily rack up a dozen little debts. Instead of everyone paying everyone, the splitter matches who is owed with who owes and produces the minimum set of transfers, so settling up is quick and clean. It handles unequal splits too, so a taxi only two people took is charged only to those two.

Free and private

Completely free, unlimited, no signup. It runs entirely in your browser and keeps your group's money matters off any server.

Good to know

Group Expense Splitter, frequently asked questions

What does the group expense splitter do?

Add the people in your group and the expenses each person paid, and it works out everyone's net balance and the simplest set of payments to settle up, so instead of many little debts you get the fewest possible transfers. It shows who pays whom and how much, and gives you a WhatsApp-ready summary to send the group.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. It runs entirely in your browser with no signup and no app to install. The whole running tab, people and expenses, is saved inside the page's link, so to share it with the group you just copy the URL. Everyone with the link sees the same tab.

How does it decide who pays whom?

It adds up what each person paid and what they owe based on how each expense was split, giving a net balance per person. Then it matches the people who are owed money with the people who owe it, in the fewest payments, so the group settles up with the minimum number of transfers.

Can I split an expense among only some people?

Yes. By default each expense is split equally among everyone, but you can tick only the people who shared a particular cost, for example if two of you split a taxi the others did not take. Each expense can be split among a different subset.

Is it private? Where is my data stored?

It is completely private. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no database and no account. The data lives only in the page link in your browser, which is also how sharing works. If you do not share the link, no one else can see it.

Does it work for trips and shared houses, not just dinners?

Yes. It works for any shared spending: holidays, group dinners, flatmate bills, office collections. Keep adding expenses over days or weeks, and the settle-up always reflects the latest totals. Bookmark or share the link to keep the running tab.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free with no limits, no signup and no app.
