Turn text into natural speech
This text to speech tool reads any text aloud in a natural voice using the speech engine already built into your device. Paste an article, a script or your notes, choose a voice and press play. There is no signup and nothing to install, and it is genuinely free because the voices come from your own browser.
What you can control
- Voice: Pick from the voices installed on your device, across different languages and accents.
- Speed: Slow the reading down to follow along or speed it up to skim.
- Pitch: Raise or lower the tone of the voice to taste.
- Playback: Play, pause, resume and stop at any point.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box.
- Choose a voice and adjust the speed and pitch sliders if you want.
- Press Play to hear it, and pause or stop whenever you need.
- Record to a file if your browser supports it, then download the audio to reuse later.
Good to know
- The list of voices comes from your operating system and browser, so it looks different on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.
- If no voices appear at first, wait a moment; some devices load them in the background.
- Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never sent to a server.
Where it helps
- Proofreading your own writing by ear to catch awkward phrasing.
- Listening to articles, documents or study notes while your hands are busy.
- Making content more accessible for people who prefer to listen.
